Local Non-Profits Benefit from Georgia Gives Day
Georgia Gives Day is Thursday.
Citizens are encouraged to give to over 1,200 Georgia charities. One of those is the Fuller Center for Housing. With the assistance of Schwartz roofing Thursday, they were replacing the roof of a working grandmother who has custody of her three grandchildren.
The roof has been leaking and Dianne Fuller, the executive director of the Fuller Center, says there's no way the woman would be able to save enough to do it alone.
"I just have compassion to people who really want to be able to have a decent place to live, but their resources are so limited that they're not able to make those repairs," she says.
The Fuller Center is holding a fundraiser at Taste and See coffee shop on Poplar Street until 8 p.m. Thursday. They're trying to raise $12,000 so they can replace the roofs on three more Macon houses, including the home of a veteran.
In addition to Taste and See, folks from the Fuller Center will also be at Grow restaurant on Riverside, Sauced in Mercer Village and Panera Bread on Tom Hill.
